Self-Care Starter Kit
This outline will help you identify the basics of meeting your needs. Start your journey to better health, moods, and relationships.
1: Why You Need Self-Care
Self-care is about more than products or meeting the basic requirements to exist. It improves the quality of your life.
Benefits of Mindful Living
Mindfulness of your needs makes it easier to focus on what matters most to you. It inspires creativity, positivity, and peace.
Better Sleep
You won’t be up at night worrying about what’s missing.
Greater Productivity
It’s easier to achieve your goals when your needs are met.
Emotional Regulation
Having your needs met reduces anxiety and emotional instability.
Improved Relationships
Self-care reduces stress leading to more effective communication.
Physical and Mental Health
Meeting all your needs improves your overall health and wellbeing.
Consequences of Self-Neglect
Taking care of yourself is not selfish. Self-care is essential for feeling and performing your best. Here are some risks of ignoring your needs.
Money Issues
Reduced productivity affects your finances.
Social Isolation
Feeling unwell can cause you to withdraw.
Declining Health
Mental and physical struggles and addictions.
Relationship Problems
Lack of focus on your needs impairs communication.
Risk of Injuries or Accidents
Poor health increases potential mishaps and illnesses.
Toxic Self-Care
Not all “self-care" is healthy. Binge-watching or eating junk may relax you, but it costs in the long run. Avoid overindulging too often.
Avoid replacing true self-care with products. Massagers and foot spas are great, but are not a substitute for meeting your needs.
